The recent midterm elections and their dramatic results are the centerpiece of this broadcast of Urban Focus with a look at national, state and local results and that they mean.
Assemblyman Carl Heastie, the Democratic Party chairman in the Bronx, discusses the election from a local and statewide perspective. Mr. Heastie is the first African-American chairman of the Bronx Democratic Party.

John Mollen Kopf
The show also includes an interview with John Mollenkopf, the director of the Center for Urban Research at the City University of New York. He is a Distinguished Professor of Political Science and Sociology at the CUNY’s Graduate Center and coordinates its interdisciplinary concentration in public policy and urban studies. He has authored or edited fifteen books on urban politics, urban policy, immigration, and New York City.

Kevin Wardally
And Kevin Wardally, a political consultant, gives his take on some of the local races. Mr. Wardally is senior vice president for political and governmental affairs with Bill Lynch Associates in New York City. He has worked on a number of New York State and New York City campaigns over the years, from Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to Congressman Charles Rangel.

Urban Focus is broadcast nation-wide via the Internet every Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at http://streaming.intacs.com/clients/medgarevers. In Brooklyn, the program will be aired on BCAT TV on Channel 70 (Cablevision), Channel 56 (Time Warner), Channel 44 (Verizon ) and Channel 84 (RCN). Urban Focus will be broadcast every Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and programs will be archived here on the DuBois Bunche Center’s website.
Through interviews with politicians, policy makers, industry practitioners, scholars and expert analysts, Urban Focus will explore a range of issues that affect underserved communities and communities of color from Crown Heights, Brooklyn, to Cape Town, South Africa. The discussions will serve to both draw attention to problems and highlight solutions for issues of concern to these communities.
