Fernando Ferrer
Fernando Ferrer, the former Bronx Borough President discusses a host of public policy issues related to how New York City should emerge from the economic recession. Mr. Ferrer was the Democratic candidate for mayor of New York City in 2005. He was elected Bronx Borough President in 1987 and served until 2001.

Michael Fauntroy
Also on the program, Michael Fauntroy, a professor of public policy at George Mason University and a political commentator, discusses the historic relationship between African Americans and the Republican Party. He is the author of the book “Republicans and the Black Vote,” which analyzes that relationship.

Rodney Sieh
The program also looks at the political climate in Liberia, where President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf announced recently that she will be a candidate for reelection in 2011. The program includes an interview with Rodney Sieh, the editor of Front Page Africa, a newspaper and web site based on Monrovia, Liberia.

Urban Focus is broadcast nation-wide via the Internet every Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at http://streaming.intacs.com/clients/medgarevers. In Brooklyn, the program will be aired on BCAT TV on Channel 70 (Cablevision), Channel 56 (Time Warner), Channel 44 (Verizon ) and Channel 84 (RCN). Urban Focus will be broadcast every Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and programs will be archived here on the DuBois Bunche Center’s website.
Through interviews with politicians, policy makers, industry practitioners, scholars and expert analysts, Urban Focus will explore a range of issues that affect underserved communities and communities of color from Crown Heights, Brooklyn, to Cape Town, South Africa. The discussions will serve to both draw attention to problems and highlight solutions for issues of concern to these communities.
