John Jacob
John E. Jacob, the veteran civil rights leader and former president and executive director of the National Urban League, offers his perspective of where the country has travelled in providing equal opportunity. In his years at the Urban League, Mr. Jacob fought cutbacks in federal social programs and the weakening of civil rights enforcement under the Reagan Administration. He will look at an array of civil rights issues in the age of Obama.

Lincoln Stephens
The program also includes an interview with Lincoln Stephens, the founder and director of the Marcus Graham Project, an organization aimed at recruiting and training young African American candidates for jobs in advertising agencies. Mr. Stephens, a former advertising agency executive based in Dallas, operates the program in a number of markets throughout the country.
And Kevin Wardally, the veteran New York political analyst, discusses a host of issues related to the political scene in New York City and the state.

Urban Focus is broadcast nation-wide via the Internet every Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at http://streaming.intacs.com/clients/medgarevers. In Brooklyn, the program will be aired on BCAT TV on Channel 70 (Cablevision), Channel 56 (Time Warner), Channel 44 (Verizon ) and Channel 84 (RCN). Urban Focus will be broadcast every Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and programs will be archived here on the DuBois Bunche Center’s website.
Through interviews with politicians, policy makers, industry practitioners, scholars and expert analysts, Urban Focus will explore a range of issues that affect underserved communities and communities of color from Crown Heights, Brooklyn, to Cape Town, South Africa. The discussions will serve to both draw attention to problems and highlight solutions for issues of concern to these communities.
